The Head
Okay, so the weather is awful, the studio is too cold, and I'm out of oxygen until next week. Why not make a head?
This one will be mixed media of some kind, eventually. Right now, it's about 20 inches tall, made from plaster and cement. I modelled it into form, and am now carving back into it. So far, think Modigliani meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind...
Recent Steel Pieces
To the left is a view of Instar, which I finished last month. It's the pod, or larval stage, of the sculpture below. I intend to do an entire series of these. (left: Instar, 2008, 31 x 16 x 24, welded steel, plaster, cement, wire, oil color, lacquer)
This was the first of the series, Mollusk (2007, 65 x 20 x 15, welded steel.)
